Catherine Smart - Artist

Being creative is a true extension of who I am. Creating something from nothing is my passion, joy and fills me up! I have been painting since I was a teenager.

I live in Thornbury with my husband and two teenage sons. We moved up here from Toronto several years ago when the boys were small partly to be by the water.

Acrylic is my medium. I enjoy the flexibility it affords me with regard to texture; fast drying and layering of the paint.

My current series is called “Big Sea ~ Big Sky” reflecting the thousands of hours that I have spent on and beside Georgian Bay. I am a sailor and have a true passion for the sea and painting seascapes! The majority of the canvases are approximately 24” x 30”. I do not frame my work; however every piece to ready to hang and the outside edges are always finished. I also paint 6" x 6" birds which are a lovely accent in any room!
